Intelligent Design

We've been discussing intelligent design vs evolution in my biology class's message board. One of my classmates hit the nail on the head with his post:

"The very concept of evolution is a awkward subject to discuss ever since its introduction by Darwin. The clash between science and religion dates back to Copernicus when he said something against the teachings of the entire church. The inevitable fact is that there is no exact science. If religion is to point a finger at science when it can not back up its evidence with 100% fact, then it must do so as well. Religion is based on faith whereas science is based on experimental data that is repeated over and over to show consistant results. The sad fact is that when government gets involved it becomes even more complicated. These individuals we have chosen to lead the nation must make ethical decisions that have no true place with a government. A government is there to ensure the saftey and well being of its people but the american government has taken upon itself to solve bioethical arguements that can not truely be agreed upon. The free will that humans have can be controlled to a point, but in america, where opinion is allowed to be said, people have the right to state and hold true to their faith or their facts. Either way, the american people must solve the concept of evolution in their own living rooms and leave it out of the congressional chambers. This does not mean that government should not solve problems for its people, but it should not have to make up their minds for them. Our personal choice is ours to make. It is simply a choosing of fact or faith. The incorporation of both into education is just logical for it gives the student the free will to choose one side or believe in both. "

Darwin's theory of evolution doesn't state that humans descended from monkeys.

It just states that the strongest members of a certain species survives.

Yeah, but unfortuneately many people believe that evolution means that an animal magically turns into another animal somehow instead of an animal becoming better suited to survive and therefore more dominant because it passes on more of its genes than an animal that can't survive.
